HYROX... Hybrid Rockstar....
A dear friend told me that I would not partake in such an event based on the name alone. Well, I'm signed up now with no refunds. I believe "Let's go." is what the kids say after the great success. "Let's turn that new leaf!"
Presently after stacking a couple years of over 1000 miles and at least as many 2 minute desk breaks for pullups and quick reps Hyrox in the pro division seems possible.
When I first saw this event shimmer 3 years ago as I was researching triathlon training - stacking 8k of running on top of 8 gruelling events seemed impossible, and was at the time. Now my goal will be 75 minutes, with an impossible goal of 70 minutes.
The trip to Vancouver will be humble pie to keep on competing even though that 20 bucks might be better spent on house renovations or whatever. Exposing the kids to these events will be their education in socialization and competition - and that is definitely worth the 20 buckaroos!
